Apollo 14 Moonwalker Edgar Mitchell and David Frohman, President of Peachstate Historical Consulting, Inc., appear at the "Cosmosphere" with Alan Shepard's "Six-Iron" lunar golf club

September 29, 2007

Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell and David Frohman, President of Peachstate Historical Consulting, Inc. made a special appearance at the Kansas Cosmosphere & Space Center today. The occasion marked the arrival of Alan Shepard's legendary "Six-Iron" golf club that he used to hit his iconic golf shots on the Moon during Apollo 14 as his golf caddy Edgar Mitchell stood by his side.

Frohman recently completed the first official appraisal of the golf club in modern times which, in-turn, allowed it to leave the United States Golf Association museum and go on loan to the "Cosmosphere" for six months. This was the first time that the golf club had ever been permitted to leave the museum since it was donated by Alan Shepard after his return to Earth.

After his appraisal, Frohman devised the idea of also bringing Alan Shepard's lunar "Golf Caddy" to the Cosmosphere for an appearance with the golf club. "I discussed my idea with both Dr. Mitchell and Chris Orwoll, President of the Cosmosphere, and they loved it", Frohman said. "I'm delighted that I could arrange such an amazing and frankly surreal event which was a hit with the public!
