David Frohman, President of Peachstate Historical Consulting, Inc., has created the historic manuscript limited-edition print entitled "The First Words Ever Spoken"

July 23, 1999

David Frohman, President of Peachstate Historical Consulting, Inc., is proud to announce that his firm today completed a unique Apollo 11 limited-edition manuscript print entitled "The First Words Ever Spoken". The print was created this week with the assistance of both Apollo 11 "CAPCOM" Charles M. Duke, Jr. and Apollo 11 Moonwalker Buzz Aldrin on the thirty anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the Moon.

By way of background, after searching for a safe landing site on July 20, 1969 with only seconds of fuel remaining, Buzz Aldrin spoke the words that transformed history: "Contact Light, OK, Engine Stop". At that moment, Aldrin uttered both the first words ever spoken by Man on the surface of the Moon, and the first words ever transmitted from the Moon's surface back to Earth! Moments later, Charles M. Duke, Jr., Apollo 11 Lunar Landing "CAPCOM" and Apollo 16 Moonwalker, became the first person on Earth to ever speak to man on the Moon with his historic reply: "We copy you down, Eagle".

On July 20, 1999, thirty years to the day after speaking those historic words from the Moon, Buzz Aldrin inscribed them in Washington, D.C. on 99 custom 16 x 20 inch photographic prints of him saluting the flag on the Moon. Aldrin then signed each print, adding his full mission title! Earlier today, on July 23, 1999 as the anniversary continued, Duke completed the print in Atlanta as he inscribed his historic quote after Aldrin's! A historic manuscript was thus completed this day, joining two immortal quotes inscribed in sequence on a single document during the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11.

"I am thrilled to have successfully pulled off the logistics to create "The First Words ..." print on the actual 30th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing," Frohman stated. "This print combines two of the most historic quotes both in original manuscript form and in historical sequence on a single document", Frohman added. "This is a true tour de force!"
